The scientific study of reading has taught us a good deal about how children learn to read. Written language evolves from its foundation in spoken language but how do children move from novice to expert? This workshop will build links between scientific research and educational practice with particular emphasis on the ultimate goal of reading – to understand what it is that has been read.
