PBIDA Summer Book Study – Equipped for Reading Success

June 30, 2021 - July 21, 2021

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

The Pennsylvania Branch of the International Dyslexia Association (PBIDA), in collaboration with RMU Peirce Center and Provident Charter School, presents a summer book study on Dr. David Kilpatrick’s Equipped for Reading Success: A Comprehensive, Step-by-Step Program for Developing Phonemic Awareness and Fluent Word Recognition.

Equipped for Reading Success summarizes current research on how children learn to read. Research has shown that phoneme awareness is important for developing phonic decoding skills and for remembering the words we read instantly. We’ll study the first half of the manual, which presents scientific research in an easy-to-understand manner. Then, we’ll practice using the complete phonemic awareness training program, word recognition strategies, and multiple assessments for progress monitoring contained in the second half of the manual.

Join us virtually for four 1½-hour sessions on Wednesdays from 7:00-8:30 PM on the following dates: June 30, July 7, July 14 & July 21, 2021.
