June 11 @ 9:00 am - 2:00 pm
Fundations® Virtual Launch Workshops provide the practice and guidance needed to begin teaching the Fundations curriculum for the selected workshop Level. Led by a skilled instructor, each interactive remote workshop addresses: the principles of instruction; skills taught in the selected Fundations Level, including phonemic awareness and the alphabetic principle, phonics and word study, vocabulary, high frequency words, fluency, comprehension, handwriting, and spelling; daily learning plan development; practice of lesson activities; and use of the Teacher’s Manual/other resources. Fundations® is a Structured Literacy program for Grades K–3 that is grounded in the science of reading and Orton-Gillingham principles. It provides Tier 1 instruction and Tier 2 intervention within a Response to Intervention/Multi-tiered System of Supports. It thoroughly teaches the foundational literacy skills of the Pennsylvania Core Standards (print concepts, phonological awareness, phonics, word recognition, and fluency). It also supports reading, writing, and language standards.
